A lead list is a set of contacts you intend to approach. A useful list contains people who match your ideal customer profile, not simply a large number of email addresses.
Useful fields
- Contact name, company and role.
- A business email address.
- Industry, location and other relevant fit criteria.
- A truthful reason your offer may matter to them.
β Prepare the list before sending
Verify addresses close to the send date, remove invalid contacts and duplicates, and check that company and role information is current. Keep catch-all, risky and unknown results out of the main campaign until they have been reviewed; a vendor's "verified" label is not a guarantee.
Keep a master list with the source, export date, verifier and verification date. Compare new exports against it so the same contact is not imported or contacted twice. Re-check an older list before using it again.
Keep a suppression list for opt-outs, people who declined and permanently bounced addresses. Do not put them back into another campaign or use a different mailbox to contact them again.
Check the privacy and marketing requirements for how you obtained the data and where you plan to send. Verification does not establish consent or legal permission to contact someone.
