What is a Call to Action (CTA)?

Give the reader one clear, low-effort next step.

A call to action, or CTA, is the question or instruction that tells the reader what to do next.

For an introductory cold email, make it easy to reply. One relevant question is usually simpler than asking a stranger to buy, book a meeting and read a case study at once.

Examples

  • "Is this something your team is working on?"
  • "Would a short example be useful?"
  • "Would you like me to send the checklist?"

Only offer a resource you can actually provide. A more direct meeting request can make sense later, once someone has expressed interest.

Checklist

  • One clear next step.
  • Easy to answer in a short reply.
  • Relevant to the message and the recipient.
  • No unnecessary links, attachments or pressure.

Respect a decline or opt-out rather than continuing to push for a response.
