Using Existing or Aged Domains

Check a domain's history and current services before connecting it.

An aged domain has been registered for some time. Age alone does not establish good sending history or guarantee better inbox placement.

Check before connecting

  • Confirm that you own the domain and can manage its registrar settings.
  • Review its previous use and avoid a domain with a problematic history.
  • Identify any live website, email or other service already using it.
  • Check whether a previous Microsoft 365 provider still holds the domain.

Changing nameservers affects all services on the domain. Contact support first if it is already used for something important.

New mailboxes on an existing domain still need at least 3 weeks of warm-up before campaigns. Do not skip preparation because a domain is old, or buy an older domain based on a promise of guaranteed performance.

If you are unsure whether a domain is suitable, ask support before moving or replacing the current setup.
